Windborne B&B is committed to protecting the privacy of visitors to the Windborne B&B website whose information is held by Windborne B&B through responsible information management practices. Information Automatically Collected: If you visit Windborne B&B’s website to browse, read pages, or download information, we will gather and store certain information about the visit. This information includes, but is not limited to, such things as:

  1. The name of the user.
  2. The Internet Protocol Address and domain name used. The Internet Protocol address is a numerical identifier assigned either to your Internet service provider or directly to your computer. This address can be translated to determine the domain name of your service provider (e.g. gov.bc.ca, xcompany.com or yourschool.edu);

  4. The date and time of the visit; and
  5. The web pages or services accessed.

Information collected automatically is used for purposes such as administering the website, assessing system performance, improving web services and web site security and management.

Personal information may also be collected when you provide it on a voluntary basis, e.g. when you register for an event or workshop, signup for the newsletter and other requested information, request information via email or access a protected portion of the website using a  Windborne B&B or Mirja Vahala Art Studio password. We may use your personal information to respond to you, contact you or as otherwise permitted by law. At all times we reserve the right to disclose your personal information as may be required by law or to comply with a subpoena, summons, warrant or order of a court or statutory tribunal or to protect our rights or property or the rights or property of our members.

We will take appropriate measures to safeguard the personal information provided, taking into account the sensitivity of the information. However, due to the nature of the technologies involved, there may still exist security or privacy risks and we cannot guarantee that your personal information will not be collected, used or disclosed in ways not conforming with this policy. No user data beyond what is needed for the reservation is stored.

We make reasonable efforts to provide a level of security appropriate to the risk associated with any processing of your personal information.  Your personal information is only accessible by a limited number of people who are required to keep the information confidential. 

All credit card information you supply to us through Stripe, our payment card processor, is transmitted via Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology and encrypted on disk with AES-256. Decryption keys are stored on separate machines. Stripe’s infrastructure for storing, decrypting, and transmitting card numbers runs in separate hosting infrastructure, and does not share any credentials with Stripe’s primary services. Read more about Security at Stripe.

Cookies

Cookies are small files that a site or its service provider transfers to your computer’s hard drive through your web browser (if you allow) that enables the site’s or service provider’s systems to recognize your browser and capture and remember certain information. You can choose to have your computer warn you each time a cookie is being sent, or you can choose to turn off all cookies. You do this through your browser settings.  

Stripe uses cookies for fraud prevention and detection when they process payment transactions on behalf of us.

  1. To process payment card donations, your personal information will be shared with our payment card provider Stripe, for the purposes of receiving your payments (Stripe’s Privacy Policy can be accessed here);

  3. If it is required for any legal proceeding;
  4. To prove or protect our legal rights; and
  5. To buyers or potential buyers of this company in the event that we seek to sell the company.

Third party links provided in this privacy policy are to provide you with additional information. These linked sites have separate and independent privacy policies. We therefore have no responsibility or liability for the content and activities of these linked sites. 

Visitors should be aware that Windborne B&B website may include links to websites operated by other agencies, organizations and businesses. When you link to another site, this privacy policy will not apply. Windborne B&B is not responsible for the privacy practices or content of external websites.
